South Africa: Newly launched Lynedoch EcoVillage project

A solar and wind powered water purification system was installed at the Lynedoch EcoVillage. This water purification unit was developed and manufactured by Trunz Water Systems AG in Arbon, Switzerland.

As a supplier of the Trunz company LORENTZ has delivered a 24 V solar powered submersible pump which carries about 15'000 litres a day of raw water from a borehole to the entrance of the purification system. The unit can process water from lakes, rivers, boreholes, ocean seas and even semi-treated effluent from sewage treatment facilities, transforming polluted water into potable quality water.

The aim of the Lynedoch EcoVillage it to establishment a socially and economically viable mixed community, which is centred around a learning precinct and practical and working example of an ecologically designed urban system that uses local replicable technologies.
