The pumps in the S1 range are submersible and primarily designed for vertical installation. However, they may also be used in a horizontal or tilted position under specific conditions, depending on the pump model.
S1-200 (HR - helical rotor pumps)
HR pumps from the S1-200 system can be installed and operated in a horizontal position, as long as they are properly protected from dirt and mud. Pumping water with higher particle concentrations than indicated will reduce pump lifetime and void the warranty.
For more information, refer to the article on water quality requirements:
Please note:
If the pump is used in a horizontal position, the dry run protection cannot function correctly. This is because the dry run sensor must remain in a vertical orientation to operate. If needed, the sensor may be installed externally (e.g., on a pole or stick). See the following picture:
S1-700 (CST - centrifugal pumps)
CST centrifugal pumps used in the S1-700 systems must not be installed fully horizontally. They can only be operated at an inclined angle of at least 30°, as shown below:
This inclination ensures safe operation and proper cooling of the motor. Always install the pump in a way that respects this minimum angle.
If dry run protection is required, it must also be installed in a vertical position. The dry run sensor can be mounted externally (e.g., on a post or pole).
