LORENTZ S1 solar pumping systems are primarily designed to operate on solar power. However, when required by the customer or the application, they can also be powered by alternative energy sources such as the electric grid or diesel generators.
To do so, an additional accessory called LORENTZ PowerPack must be used. The PowerPack converts AC power into the correct DC voltage required by the controller and pump.
IMPORTANT - Operation with grid power or diesel generators is not possible without a compatible LORENTZ PowerPack.
Powering the S1-200 using PowerPack 600S
To operate the S1-200 system from the grid or a generator, use the LORENTZ PowerPack 600S.
Technical requirements:
- DC input (PV input): Do not exceed 55 V DC
- AC input (grid or generator): Single phase 100–260 V AC / 50–60 Hz
- Factory DC output setting: 56 V / 10.5 A (adjustment required, see warning below)
WARNING– Voltage Adjustment Required - The factory output voltage of the PowerPack 600S is set to 56 V DC, which exceeds the safe input limit for the S1-200 (55 V DC max).
Before connecting to the S1-200 controller, the output voltage must be adjusted to 48 V DC. This adjustment must be done only by authorized personnel using a multimeter.
Example system layout: S1-200 system using PowerPack 600S and grid/generator input
Powering the S1-700 using PowerPack 2000S
To operate the S1-700 system from the grid or a generator, use the LORENTZ PowerPack 2000S.
Technical requirements:
- DC input (PV input): Do not exceed 220 V DC
- AC input (grid or generator): Single phase 200–240 V AC (±10%) / 50–60 Hz
- Voltage selector setting: Must be switched from Position 4 (default) to Position 1 (adjustment required, see warning below)
WARNING – Voltage Adjustment Required - The PowerPack 2000S is shipped with the internal voltage selector set to Position 4. For operation with the S1-700, this must be changed to Position 1 before use. This change must be carried out only by authorized personnel.
