Both the S1-200 and S1-700 controllers are designed to be robust. However, to ensure your equipment lasts as long as possible, install it in a place where it is protected from the elements.

The controller has an "IP68" rating. While this means that the controller is well able to handle water, despite their high ingress protection, it is still recommended to install the controller in a location that provides additional shelter from rain and harsh environmental conditions. Doing so helps extend the equipment's lifespan and ensures reliable long-term operation.

A practical and commonly used mounting location is beneath the solar module, where the controller is shielded from sun and rain.
