The village of Xacabal in the municipality of Sta. Catarina Ixtahuacan in the Solola district did rely on rainwater catching as their only water source dried up. The newly built well is located below the village so water needs to be pumped up 40m from where it is distributed by gravity. Electric power is not available in the village so solar pumping is the obvious choice for the community.
