This system currently pumping water for an drip irrigation system near Tecpán has been transferred from another site where it was successfully operating since 2015. The system provides water to cultivate around 5ha of green beans with almost no fuel consumption. The solar pumping system provides the pressure for a direct drip irrigation system. During off season the solar pumping system fills a reservoir with well water which is used by the diesel during times of high water needs. Thus running the diesel pump only a fraction of the time it would without a solar pump.
